Thrash band Exodus is back with another new album, The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A. This is the first album in the planned two album set and it’s off to a go start. Exodus is still here and their style of thrash metal is sure to please anybody, even if Exhibit A seems a lot like their past releases.

Exhibit A starts off with a short, pointless intro track. Once this minute and a half track is up we get to hear Riot Act, a song with excellent guitar work. Riot Act is fast paced, the guitar work on here seems almost unreal, in a good way of course. The guitar work and drumming seems to dual at certain points on this track, working together to create a trash track for the ages.

This album marks the second one with vocalist Rob Dukes. Tom Hunting, the original drummer, is back with the band, taking a two year leave. Rob seems to be a good fit for Exodus and Hunting is back what he does best, fast drumming with good beats.

The bands two guitarists, Gary Holt and Lee Altus, really do some good work on Exhibit. Some of the solos, Funeral Hymn being one, are really well played. They may at times sound like rehashed solos from past Exodus albums, but they fit the songs well. I do have to give them credit for being able to play kick ass thrash metal on all the tracks. Exhibit A features a lot of long tracks, something that isn’t done too much anymore in the thrash scene. If you can make it through these tracks you are in for a real treat.

Final Verdict
The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A is a solid thrash release and should be listened to if you are a fan of this genre. There isn’t any real slow down on this record, the guitar solos really stand out the most on Exhibit A. Even though the solos are great they do, at times, sound a lot like older Exodus material. The Atrocity Exhibition is off to a good start, let’s hope this two part concept album finishes off with a bang because the first album is already that good.
