The upcoming fifth album by Darkane is the first that features new vocalist Jens Broman. When Andreas Sydow left the band in 2007 Darkane went on a wide search for a new lead man and the sound is much better. Is Demonic Art the best album from these Swedish metal heads?

Demonic Art is everything you would expect from this Sweden band. The sound is fantastic and the new singer, Jens Broman, is great. Only after ten years Darkane has proved that they are one of the best bands in the thrash metal scene. What makes Demonic Art the best release from the band is the added industrial and melodic sound.

Darkane sounds like the bastard child of Strapping Young Lad and Meshuggah, but this is a good thing. Both of these bands are great and combing their styles is defiantly a great sound. Broman is doing his best as the new singer and he never lets go with pipes. Along with the guitar team of Christofer Malmstrom and Klas Ideberg you have a damn good album.

Former Arch Enemy drummer Peter Wildoer is still lending his talents with Darkane. The fifth release from Darkane has a nice touch with some nifty drum solos. Wildoer goes all out with these tracks but there is one thing that ruins his work.

The spoken words from Massacre Records is on this release. So far this album got the worst of it. Some tracks seem to have up to four spoken parts. There are points where the spoken words seem to dim the sound down for the rest of the song. This is a huge problem because every other song seems to suffer this; thankfully the first three tracks were perfectly fine.

Final Verdict
I really enjoyed the latest release from Darkane a lot, but the spoken words really ruined things. For now I have to give this a lower rating than I should but I can’t help it. Until I can hear the real release this album is getting a lower rating than usual albums I review.
