A few months ago I got an invite to be friends with Fracture Point on
Myspace. Usually I hate when bands send invites, but I decided to listen to them
any way. After listening to all of their songs I knew I had to contact this band
and see if they would be interested in a review for their first album.
Some time passed and then I got another message from the band. Inherit the
Downfall was finally done and my copy was in the mail. Once the album hit my
doorstep I was ready to listen to it.
From my first listen though I knew something sounded good about these guys. Ben
Rosputni vocals sound identical to Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe. I’m not going to
stop there because Rosputni sounds like Blythe from when Lamb of God was mainly
a death metal band, pre-Lamb of God and New American Gospel. If you have been
listening to Lamb of God now then you know their sound has taken a turn into
Groove Metal so having Rosputni sound like this is metaltastic.
Matt Hobart is an extremely talented guitarist and one can hear that from
Inherit the Downfall. The albums first track, IED, starts out with this
Meshuggah meets Dillinger Escape Plan like introduction that boggles the mind.
All of the eleven tracks have this sound too, nice and heavy right to the last
drop.
I shouldn’t leave out Matt Bond (bassist) and Dan Ammon (drummer). There roles
on this album were to make things sound evil and brutal and they accomplished
that. Both of these men’s aggression on this album is crazy good. Your normally
hear this in death metal music; however Bond and Ammon are taking things to a
whole new level, especially in the underground scene.
Final Verdict
Fracture Point’s debut album is a huge success. Inherit the Downfall may not be
available in stores across the United States, but that is not Fracture Point’s
fault at all. I highly recommend checking this album out if you are a fan of
metal music. This release will have you wishing you heard about these guys when
they first stepped into the metal scene.
