Nim's Island [Blu-ray] - Walden Media hasn’t really changed movies with some of their movie adaptations of their famous novels. There seems to be more buzz around the actual title than the movie itself, which doesn’t sit well for movie goes. Is Nim’s Island going to suffer the same way just all the other Walden Media movies?
Be Kind Rewind [Blu-ray] - Comedy movies are hard to make any more. A good comedy tends to please the audience for its entire length. A bad comedy only has enough laughs to make the trailer look good. Be Kind Rewind is one of those comedy movies that sort of falls in-between the cracks as being good one moment and then real bad.
Cleaner - Samuel L. Jackson, Ed Harris, and Eva Mendes make up a stellar cast that didn’t make it too big in theaters. Cleaner feels a lot like an episode of CSI, a television show that has millions of viewers each and every week. With its CSI qualities there is more happening in Cleaner that makes it vulnerable to many gabs to viewers.
Zombies Gone Wild - Zombies plus Gone Wild does not equal anything good. Zombies Gone Wild is defiantly one of those movies that most people have never heard of. With a team full of zombies and three complete idiots, Zombies Gone Wild could very well be the worst movie in cinema history.
Doomsday - This is one of those movies that you skipped when it was released in theaters earlier this year. Doomsday might have come out at the wrong time or the trailers didn’t look very appetizing. Now with the movie being released on video, should you take a look at this film or should you continue ignoring it?
Lost Boys: The Tribe [Blu-ray] - It took over twenty years for a sequel to be made for the Lost Boys, one of the best vampire movies of our time. Instead of getting the proper wide theatrical release it deserved this movie was released on every format on video. Does this aspect of the movie spell bad news or is this a worthy sequel to the Lost Boys name?
Star Wars: The Clone Wars - A Star Wars animated film, released in theaters, sounds like an interesting idea. With an animated television in the works the right thing to do was to release a movie, which would lead into the upcoming show. Is this just a cash cow from Lucas and the gang or is the Clone Wars worth your money?
Ghost in a Teeny Bikini - What do porn stars do whenever they don’t do their job? Simple, they make softcore movies that appeal to teenagers and anybody else who is afraid to enter Adult Stores. Ghost in a Teeny Bikini is the latest softcore film from Fred Olen Ray and truthfully there is enough laughs in here that would make this movie worth while.
Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay [Blu-ray] - Harold and Kumar went to White Castle for a snack in 2004. The comedy would become one of the biggest hits in the stoner community. Four years later Harold and Kumar are heading to a whole new place and this time they won’t be eating any mini burgers at all. These two are going to Guantanamo Bay.
21 [Blu-ray] - Another movie about money and gambling, that sums up 21. If you have seen one Las Vegas movie then you’ve most likely seen them all. This movie is the perfect example of how a movie can start out so strong and then fall face down on the ground. 21 is the little train that could not, even when it comes to extras.
Step Brothers - Will Farrell and Adam McKay are back with their immature antics. Step Brothers takes this kind of humor to a whole new level with stupid, idiotic jokes. The movie never stops with all the laughs but you have to wonder if this kind of humor is still what people are looking for in a movie on the silver screen.
Get Smart’s Bruce and Lloyd: Out of Control [Blu-ray] - Was there a reason to release a direct to video spin-off of the Get Smart movie? Not really and to release this a week after the movies worldwide debut is even worse. Bruce and Lloyd were minor characters in the Get Smart movie and to give them a movie just adds to the list of questions you may have about this direct to video release.
College Road Trip [Blu-ray] - Martin Lawrence use to be a funny man. His career has been on a sudden rise once again with a bunch of friendly movies. Certain Martin movies are still stuck in our heads, mainly 2001s Black Knight. Can Martin Lawrence keep up his winning streak or will he go back to his Black Knight days?
Pineapple Express - Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are back together with another comedy. Instead of making us laugh with teenagers, Rogen and Goldberg are giving us the story about two stoners that are just having the worst luck in history. Add in a cast of some familiar faces and you got yourself a comedy that might be worth your time and money.
Mamma Mia! - ABBA inspired the music in Mamma Mia!, that alone should get plenty of people in the seats to see this movie. These songs are real good and most of them are classics, but what happened when Mamma Mia! was being made? This movie has taken the rock and it’s replaced it with a lot of tampered music that just sounds awful.
Dark Knight, The - If there is one movie you see this summer you better make it The Dark Knight. After three long years Christopher Nolan is back with the sequel to Batman Begins. Nolan has given fans what they’ve wanted since Begins, a battle between Batman and his arch nemesis The Joker.
Batman Begins [Blu-ray] - Before Batman Begins came out the Batman franchise was in ruins. Batman Forever and Batman & Robin were some of the worst movies in comic book history. The Dark Knight was down for the count, which is until Batman Begins came out. Christopher Nolan reinvented Batman and the blu-ray release only makes this three year old movie even better.
Wall-E - Pixar is at it again with their latest animated film, Wall-E. Instead of featuring animals or humans, Wall-E primarily deals with robots that don’t even speak any English. How can a movie that has no real dialogue be worth your time and money? Can Pixar change the way we see movies with Wall-E or did they create their worst movie to date?
Hellboy II: The Golden Army - The original Hellboy movie may have not broken any records when it came out in the theaters, but it did spawn a huge cult following. Because of the fans, a second Hellboy movie got the green light, but this time Universal Studios was behind the picture. Four years later and we now have one of the best comic book movie adaptations.
Hellboy: Directors Cut [Blu-ray] - Mike Mignola has been writing Hellboy comic books for quite some time now. When fans shared their expressions in seeing a Hellboy movie, Guillermo del Toro put his hat in the race. Columbia Pictures picked up the rights to the movie and the film received a lot of praise from the critics. With the blu-ray release, does the film see new life after three years?
Gwendoline: Unrated Director’s Cut - The movie that has been said to be so bad, it’s good, is finally available in its real format. Back in 2006, eBay sellers had to shelf their bootleg copies while fans bought this new release. With hundreds, maybe thousands, of bootlegs being sold, is it worth the purchase for this movie that you may know nothing about?
