It bothers me how bad Halloween II is. Rob Zombie took a good thing he had going with his first movie and just decided to fuck it all up. At times the fucking movie felt like an action flick with horror elements. Calling this a straight-up horror movie is a joke. Halloween II is a joke!

Rob Zombie went with a new approach with the second film in the series. Instead of following the original second movie in the series, Zombie just wanted to make a movie that makes no sense. Well it does make sense but it sucks. I mean the whole opening dream sequence is poorly done and uncalled for.

This sequence was made to kill time. We should already know that Laurie Strode is messed up. I mean who wouldn’t be messed up from what happened in the first movie? We don’t need this pointless sequence to show us this! Terrible movie making.

To make matters worse the whole movie is predictable. Michael Myers, with a beard, walking around, killing people that are not in his path. Number one, why put a beard on Michael Myers? Number two, why add more back story after the first movie was already near-perfect? Number three, why was this movie made?

Oh oh what is up with Dr. Sam Loomis? Didn’t Michael Myers kill him in the first one? He put his thumbs through his eyes. I can’t remember if that was the last we saw him in the first movie but if it wasn’t then why can he see? This is the sort of shit that pisses me off in this fucking movie!

Oh yeah I think I forgot to mention in my first review on this movie that there is enough nudity to please men. Do not quote me on this one but I do believe there are some naked Suicide Girls in this movie. If they are not Suicide Girls then Rob Zombie found some girls that should be Suicide Girls right now.

Again I may have been short with my first movie but you have to realize that I was really pissed off after seeing this movie. Rob Zombie did a fantastic job with the first movie and then he decided to shit all over the second one. A bearded Michael Myers that makes noises when he kills…come on! And to think Zombie said he didn’t want to make a third one, his story is complete…

Halloween II is presented in 1.85:1 widescreen using an AVC MPEG-4 codec. Considering how the movie was shot I was surprised with how the movie turned out on blu-ray. Still with that said there is a lot of graininess during the dark sequences. There isn’t a whole lot of color in this movie from the start so you might even be able to detect more graininess than I did. It is in no way comparable to a DVD transfer. As a blu-ray transfer though, it should have been done with more care.

The audio choice for this blu-ray was 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. The movie really needed to rely on the screams from the actors and the blu-ray version of the film delivers all of the screams. Sometimes the screaming is annoying…well maybe all of the screaming is annoying. All of the other sounds though are heard crystal clear from Michael Myers making orgasm sounds when he kills and when he breaks down doors.

The first Halloween from Zombie had amazing special features. The second time around, things seem to be slacking just a little bit.

BD Live
Bloopers
Commentary with Rob Zombie

Uncle Seymour Coffins’ Stand-up Routines
Captain Clegg and the Night Creatures Music Videos

Halloween II offers the directors cut to fans with all of its 14 extra minutes. This is typically long for most director’s cuts any more but why did they not put the original cut on the blu-ray? I would rather see the directors cut but I sort of want to compare the two versions, especially when I think the endings are different.

The commentary track is not quite up to par with the first movies but Rob Zombie does try. He gives us a lot of information about the film and at the same time he throws some trivia are way. Zombie explains why he did what he did with Halloween II. It made me feel a tiny better after listening to the commentary. I’m still upset with the final version though.

All those extra scenes, deleted and alternative ones, do not help the movie. The directors cut of the film was put together just right. Those other scenes would have made the movie longer and almost unbearable to watch. Nice job with putting these scenes in the garbage.

Blooper reel…whose idea was this? Pointless, same with the audition clips. Waste of space on the blu-ray disc, as are the music videos from the Uncle Seymour Coffins. If you like crappy music that might make you laugh then watch the videos? Really, watch them? I keep putting question marks for a reason.

Blu-ray exclusives include BD Live and Movie IQ. The Movie IQ is a live trivia extra that brings new life to the movie, almost making a game out of it. It really is a neat extra but I didn’t enjoy the movie enough to give two pieces of shit.

Final Verdict
Halloween II is the last Halloween movie by Rob Zombie (don’t change your mind Zombie). I would have to say the Zombie ruined the movie. His first Halloween movie was so much better. This one feels like some suits from Hollywood changed shit around on Rob Zombie. Then again Rob Zombie has made crappy movies before this one so this could have been his doing…
