Interview with Anton Reisenegger of Criminal

Interviewer: Eric
Eric: Thank you for taking the time to answer some quick questions. To
start things off why don't you tell our readers a little about the band.
Anton: The band started ages ago in Chile, where we were doing pretty good
until we parted ways with our label. We relocated to the UK and carried on with
a half-British, half-Chilean line-up. We've done six albums so far.
Eric: Has the reaction been positive so far on White Hell?
Anton: Fuck yes, everyone seems to love it! People go as far as saying it
is our best album yet, which is a huge compliment, considering most bands turn
into shit after a few albums.
Eric: How was it like working with Neak and Dan Biggin on the
production on White Hell?
Anton: Well, Dan is our bass player, and we recorded at his home studio,
so you can imagine it was quite a relaxed and fun process.
We brought in Neak, a friend of Dan's in for the vocals and mix, and he did a
great job. Which goes to show you don't need to pay a big name producer to get a
huge fucking sound!
Eric: What can fans expect from the 90 minute DVD that comes packaged
with White Hell?
Anton: It contains excerpts from three different shows. the main one is a
headlining show we played in Chile in 2007, filmed with multiple cameras, pro
audio etc.
Then there's the gig we played in support of Megadeth, also in Chile, which
is just one camera but pretty cool, and then there's a few songs from a German
festival.
Eric: Out of the 12 tracks on White Hell which one stands out the most
and why?
Anton: I think "Incubus" stands out quite a bit because it is different
from the rest of the album. More modern, I don't know, the structure of the song
is also quite unusual, with the melodic break after the solo.
Eric: Are there any plans for a tour in support of White Hell?
Anton: No concrete plans as we speak, but working on it!
Eric: Any chance we'll see Criminal touring in the United States in
2009?
Anton: I hope so. We've been talking with a few people and it seems like
we have a pretty strong fan base over there, despite the fact that we haven't
been there in over 10 years.
We'll see if something can be worked out.
Eric: If you have to pick three bands to tour with who would they be
and why?
Anton: Slayer because it's Slayer, The Black Dahlia Murder because they
seem to have a load of fun on tour, and Strapping Young Lad because that way
they would have to re-form!
Eric: Finally tell our viewers why they should pick up White Hell?
Anton: Because it's the best mother fucking thrash album to come out in a
long while. If you're tired of all the trends, the ridiculous metal posing and
all that shit and just want honest, balls-out metal, Criminal is your band!
But you better buy the fucker, don't just download it, lol!
Eric: Thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions. Keep it
metal!
Anton: Cheers dude!
