5 Gum
Reviewer: Eric

Everything we put in our mouth seems to be low fat or low in calories today, from drinks to gum we are not alowed to have extra weight on us. Wrigley decided to make three new kind of gums, all only have five calories per stick. You have Rain (Spearmint), Cobalt (Peppermint), and Flare (Cinnamon), all of which only cost the low price of $1.50 per pack, or in my case $1.00 because they were on sale. All of these gums are pretty pointless, Wrigley says each one will open up your senses. Give me a break there is no way I am going to end up like Cole Sear from the Sixth Sense, its not going to happen. The only way I will see dead people is if I drink damn Upshot: Mocha again.

Rain (Spearmint)
This was the first one I tried and it's the best. The spearmint taste is just right with this gum, not too strong and not too weak, perfect for any gum chewing fan. I was enjoying myself greatly with this gum, until ten minutes past by. The flavor of the gum seemed to already disappear, what is going on here? I was getting a little upset, mainly since I was enjoying myself, chewing this gum, while watching The Monster Squad on DVD. Fear not after a few short minutes the flavor seemed to come back, but not as strong. Rain did a nice job with its taste and only five calories, man I can start chewing a lot more gum.

Cobalt (Peppermint)
I gave Cobalt a try before I went to bed that night. Chewing gum might not be the best thing to do before night, but when it's only five calories who gives a crap. So after I opened up the nice packaging, I was treated to a nice shade of blue. Not too bad so far, but I've tasted this gum before. Cobalt tastes the same as every other peppermint gum, there is nothing new here. With Rain it was different, it was just perfect, but Cobalt, why should I spend the extra money for this? Yes the packaging is nice, as are all of the three gums, but there is nothing great about this one. Cobalt has the taste as all the other peppermint gums minus the lasting taste. I found myself loosing the peppermint taste after eight minutes. What a waste of time, all this gum made me do was drink some Arizona Tea before bed.

Flare (Cinnamon)
Flare is by far the worst cinnamon gum I've ever had. Oh it tastes like cinnamon only for about three minutes. Even the tatse of this gum is weak, I could barely taste the cinnamon. If these gums are suppose to enhance your sense then I want my money back. Flare didn't do anything for me, this is by far the worst one out of the bunch. Stick with any other cinnamon gum, Flare is a waste of time. I would only recommend this one if you want to be seen with a cool packet of gum because like I said before the packaging for all these gums are nice.

Final Verdict

Wrigley's new gum line, 5, is a let down. Out of the three I only enjoyed the one, Rain. The flavoring for the other two, Cobalt and Flare, are too weak. I understand these three gums are only five calories and this could be the reason, but releasing worthless gums is pointless, people will see right through it. Out of all the gums out on the market I must say 5 has the best. I can't stand the cup holder packaging or the flip top, 5 closes from the back and seems to stay shut after numerous times. Since gums seem to come and go 5 might not be around too long, but that is just my opinion.
