Wasn’t Red Baron Arcade a decent game on the PC when it was released last year? I thought it was but all of the sudden it is on the Playstation 3 and it is a whole new story. What happened during those couple of months when the developers ported this game over to the Playstation 3?

Where to start with this game? The graphics are terrible. For $10 you are buying a game that looks worse than a PSOne game. There isn’t anything good that can be said about a game like this because I quite frankly thought these sort of games were never going to be released again. It is one thing if a classic is brought out but this…this is a disaster.

Red Baron Arcade has numerous clipping issues too. I had occasions where I was flying right through the enemies. Fires look a whole lot worse too, it seems like there is a red and orange clipping graphic that is trying to eat the some what passable graphics.

The games saving grace, graphic wise, has to be the water. It does not look the best but it sure looks a whole lot better than everything else in the game.

I could go on forever about the graphics, really I could. If I did that then I couldn’t bring up the fact that this game has the most random invisible walls in gaming history. When everything around you is just cut-and-paste work you start to think that you are living in a real bad nightmare.

Trying to go through the games missions can be a bit of a challenge do to the poor everything. Remember those invisible walls I mentioned? Sometimes they are the very death of you if you don’t play your cards right. Then you also have the fact that the enemy can pretty much hit you from wherever they want. Who cares about that when you got…wait this game have nothing.

When you loose at a mission that means you have to sit through the games annoying loading screens. There are no midway points in this game. When you loose that’s it, tough luck, let the game load and do it all over again. Isn’t it enough we have to endure 30 second load screens?

All of the problems in the solo gaming experience can be found during online play. To tell the truth things seemed a lot worse online. I should have just gave up trying to get into a match after 10 minutes but no I had to wait. What I found was hell and the Red Baron was laughing in my face.

Final Verdict
Red Baron Arcade was a decent arcade game when it was released. Sony should have saw how the Xbox 360 version was cancelled before they let the game get released to the public. Thankfully you can download the demo but doing that is a waste. Stay away from the Red Baron!
