An old guy holding a sword and a cup of tea on the cover of a video game, is that normal? No it is not normal but in the case of Henry Hatsworth first adventure on the Nintendo DS it is a-ok. Out of all the games that come and go on the DS it takes a lot to make it stay in your portable for longer than a month. This game will stay in your DS for longer than a month, it may never want to leave.

Fans of platform and puzzle games will instantly fall in love with Henry Hatsworth. By combining two game styles in one it feels like you are getting more for your buck. Tiburon is known for releasing awesome games but I think they may have out done themselves with Henry Hatsworth.

The game looks a little out dated with its graphics and sounds. Characters in the game talk like they are from the Banjo Kazooie series with their random noises. Developers try to wow and amaze gamers with fancy graphics that they forget to make the actual game fun. Tiburon gives us solid SNES style graphics and a game that plays flawlessly.

Controlling both game styles is done real with thanks to Tiburon. The top portion of the screen is the actual platformer and the bottom is the puzzle aspect. By pressing a button you can switch to the bottom and collection different items to help in your quest. If you don’t pay attention to the bottom screen the enemies you just killed can come back in block form, randomly falling down on you as you adventure through the game.

The puzzle part of the game can either be played with the stylus of with a few simple controls on your DS. I found it a lot easier to use the buttons since you can move around quick without lifting your hand up to go to another move. There is a timer that only lets you play the puzzler for so long. As you get combos going you can extend your time, but trust me this is a lot harder than it sounds.

Most of the power-ups seem kind of pointless in the game. Out of all the power-ups there is one that is completely awesome. You can drink a cup of tea and turn into a robot for a few seconds. To me I found this power-up to be too great and the cutscene before this power-up is great. You can have to use strategy when using this since the robot is not that agile.

As you play through the game you can earn coins. Either go straight through the game to get coins or reply some old stages. When you get enough coins you can spend them at the shop. Yes Henry Hatsworth can buy upgrades to make his adventures easier. Adding in extra elements like this to a game like this gives more reply value since you ultimately want to create the best Henry Hatsworth possible.

All great games have a few skeletons in there closets. This game has easy boss battles. Some of these battles are so easy that you’ll figure out the boss’s pattern instantly. It also seems like the game plays in your favor whenever you are down in health, giving you heart puzzle pieces on the bottom of the screen.

Final Verdict
Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure has way too many pluses than negatives, giving this game a huge rating from me. I haven’t had this much fun with a game since Pokemon Diamond and Perl. If you own a Nintendo DS then you have to buy this game right now.
