The Wii has been lacking good and fun games as of late. Week after week a
bunch of new games come out and most of them are the same. The price? How about
$50. This is where the Wii Ware comes into play. One of the latest games to hit
the market place is The Incredible Maze.
Do you remember using one of those toys that has a ball in a blocked off maze?
If you remember that then you are set because The Incredible Maze is that plus
some. Digital Leisure added in a few new aspects, making The Incredible Maze one
of the most addictive games on the Wii Ware Market Place that only costs 500
points.
Most will argue and say that The Incredible Maze is not all it should be. When
you take a look at all the other games the price starts to go up and the
gameplay is not that great. What The Incredible Maze brings to the table is a
basic game that is fun for an hour or two at a time. I have found myself loosing
a few hours at a time when playing this game and I will tell you why.
Use either the Wii Mote or the Balance Board to carefully get your ball to the
end of the stage. There are a variety of different stages. By flicking the Wii
Mote you can jump your ball, which sounds like it might make the game that much
easier. Digital Leisure managed to implement great controls so the stages won’t
get right away. I haven’t been able to use the Balance Board since I currently
don’t have one, but once I get a hold of one I will let everyone know about it.
Stages in the game range from easy to hard. At times the difficulty curve
switches without notice. This can become a problem for some; certain stages may
take much longer to beat. If you can manage to beat all the stages then you will
unlock Time Attack, which is a neat mode to play with a party, seeing who can
get the best time on any given stage.
There are some problems with The Incredible Maze though. The music seems to loop
the same few techno tracks and the graphics are not anything that screams next
gen. Still for only 500 points you can’t complain. For the same prize as a
Nintendo game The Incredible Maze will give you more enjoyment.
Final Verdict
A Wii Ware game that costs 500 points that doesn’t suck? It is possible and The
Incredible Maze is proof of that. For what you pay for, there is enough here for
a lot of fun with your friends and family.
