There always have to be one energy drink that makes a copy what it is in this cast market. Guru started out with their original flavor, one that had a cherry flavor with a hint of citrus. The taste was defiantly original, but is that enough to take notice in this energy drink company?

Guru strides on their 100% natural flavor with organic ingredients. The drink is made with sparkling water and it contains herbal extracts, ranging from guarana seed to panax ginseng. Where most energy drinks are full of taurine, an ingredient that is not the best to consume every day, Guru gives their customers a healthy energy supplement (to a point at least). To have an energy that doesn’t offer taurine is great, especially since you get enough energy per can.

The taste of the original Guru is on the cherry side. At a few occasions I could taste a hint of something citrusie, which was a nice touch if you ask me. In the energy drink market there are a lot of drinks that tend to copy off of each other so I was relieved when I was able to find one that was original. I did however find an aftertaste that was not really good. The cherry flavor seemed to stick around, but in my mouth it sort of reminded me of cherry cough syrup.

To lighten the mood a little I did get a good amount of energy with this drink. I was able to get through my day of work without any problem, always being prepared and ready to help anyone that walked through the door. Like some of the other Guru flavors this one didn’t make me crash, my energy level just slowly started to decline.

Final Verdict
An original taste with a good kick to it. The original Guru flavor defiantly has what it takes be the backbone of the company. I wasn’t overly excited with the aftertaste, but it is something that will grow on me since I love everything else about this drink.
