No matter how much I may hide it I am a huge Mark Millar. When I heard he was getting the chance to work with the Ultimate Avengers again I got excited, so excited I shed a few tears. When the first issue was in my hands I could not wait to open it but then something happened, something bad happened.

Ultimate Comics Avengers #1 is terrible. No I don’t mean terrible, it is horrendous! Trying to call this the new beginning for the Ultimate Avengers is a joke. You still have Tony Stark acting like a complete drunk, Hawkeye looks like a G.I. Joe character and Captain America is rouge…wait that’s different. A rouge Captain America that jumps onto helicopters from buildings! Why didn’t I think of that…oh wait Millar did and it reeks really bad.

This version of Captain America does not sit to well for me. To make matters worse you have the Red Skull. Hell when I think about the Red Skull in this character I want to protest future Ultimate Comics Avengers releases. We have a tattooed Red Skull who looks like he cares too much about pumping iron than taking over the world. Look at my tattoos Captain America. Now feel my twenty two inch pythons smash you right into outer space.

It gets better folks. Mark Millar throws in a twist at the end of the comic that will make you shit your face over disgust. I sort of figured out what might happen in this issue but then Millar actually went with it. There is nothing about this shocker that makes me care about the Captain America and Red Skull characters.

At least we know that all of us, American’s, killed the Captain America we loved. That’s the best you could come up with Millar? For shame!

Final Verdict
Revamping the Ultimate lineup of comics was such a great idea…not! I don’t see myself reading this ongoing series too long. Unless Mark Millar can dig up something good I think the Ultimate Comics Avengers might be one of those things that will be lost in space. Thank you Red Skull. Go pump some iron now.
